The 300th Anniversary of the Coronation of the Painting of the Mother of God of Trakai

In 2018, Trakai History Museum organised an international ex libris competition, ‘The 300th Anniversary of the Coronation of the Painting of the Mother of God of Trakai, REGINA LITUANIAE’. The competition attracted 162 bookplates by 99 artists from 24 countries. The result of this competition, which is the third international ex libris competition organised by Trakai History Museum, is the catalogue of the exhibition, ‘The 300th Anniversary of the Coronation of the Painting of the Mother of God of Trakai’. The intension of this publication is to introduce one of the most charming types of small graphic work – the ex libris – to the public as well as to draw attention to the bookplate as a cultural phenomenon; to foster the mission of international cooperation; to contribute to cherishing and popularising of the art of the bookplate.
